What is the Significance of my Senior Quote by Chloe - November 2018 Scholarship Essay
The most challenging part for any senior choosing their quote is deciding between the message they want to leave behind. Do they want to leave the school with a humorous tone or leave with a quote filled with passion and morals? For me, I want to choose something that speaks volumes about who I am as a person without being so dull and serious that my quote is overlooked. I would choose the quote “A queen is never late, everyone else is simply early,” by Julie Andrews from the movie “The Princess Diaries 2.”
I personally have always loved this movie and always found it to be such a humorous and light hearted movie starring my absolute favorite female actress. Ever since I was a little girl, I admired Julie Andrews, as I found her to be the epitome of class and perfection. I was entranced by her British accent and her elegance throughout her life. I loved all of her movies and watched them all with delight. This quote I feel like describes me because it shows my value in self love and self confidence with a bit of humor. I have personally always struggled with self acceptance and personal image issues. This quote reminds me that I am a queen and that I should be held to a high esteem. The quote also, if looked at deeper, shows that you should only focus on yourself and accomplishing what you need to get done and to not focus on everyone else. I think that is so powerful since I am constantly obsessing over what people think of me and how they view me.
This quote is a more humorous and playful quote, which describes me. Andrews gives this quote to her butler when he tells her that she was not punctual, which was a funny response that he simply agreed with. That I often how I carry myself, in a more jocular manner. I think this quote conveys a good message of accepting yourself as a queen and to empower yourself while focusing on what you need to accomplish. I think this is powerful for me to always remember and to focus on.
This quote accurately describes me by referencing one of my favorite actresses, supporting a topic that I feel strongly about; self love while having a more amusing tone. The only negative side to this quote is the false pretentious attitude it gives off. Anyone who reads this quote might imply that I am conceited which is a false idea. This instance is a perfect case to apply what the quote itself is trying to teach. Focusing on yourself and not the outside opinions from people, who in this case, are not “queens.” This quote is perfectly applicable for many life situations, not just the case of being late. This is the quote I would want to leave my high school experience with.
