What's Paper? by Chloe - February 2018 Scholarship Essay

In the year of 2038, the educational game will be completely changed and advancing forward every day. I believe that educational resources will no longer use paper for worksheets, homework, notes or anything. In support of saving the trees, the money spent used to chop these trees down will go to a technology fund to better enhance the education around us. By not using anymore paper whatsoever, this will allow us to integrate all school work onto devices. The technology fund could turn into a huge investment, and allow every student a laptop or tablet to work off of. Having one device with all of your work on it, rather than a messy backpack with loose papers will help you stay organized and on the road for a better education as well.
As we all know, the earth needs to be treated well in order for us people to continue living on it. So in that case, trees that provide us with clean air need to stay put and not be made into tons and tons of paper we usually tend to throw away. In the year of 2038, this won’t be a problem. Every human will have a tablet or laptop in place of textbooks and papers. All school assignments will be submitted digitally, which will also help with keeping track of papers we are all scared to lose. Keeping everything online and through technology allows a stress-free lifestyle we are all dying to have.
By 2038, the movement of staying eco-friendly along with having a device with all of your documents and educational matters will be in place. This change allows others to open their eyes to the vast world around them and realize that there are more efficient ways of getting an education. We would all become better people with a great deal of knowledge. Though this technological advance didn’t have anything to do with holograms or interactive 3D images, which I do believe will be a part of everyday life by 2038, it is still important to note that this truly could become a reality. Technology is always moving forward and advancing day by day. Currently, we use computers here and there to do a few assignments for school, but most of our work is in spiral journals or classroom handouts. By 2038, that will not be the case and hopefully the future children will ask, “why is it on paper?” or better yet, “what is paper?”
