Obama Rocks by Chloe - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

After watching the divisive leader this year, my pick would definitely be President Obama. In my opinion, he’s not only intelligent, he’s funny and empathetic. On the world stage, he’s highly respected and respectable. His policies are designed to benefit the country and environmentally friendly. In my opinion, he’s moderate in his approach, he’s concerned with all classes, instead of catering to a certain demographic. He had reached across the aisle whenever there’s a challenging issue that needs bi-partisan support. At the same time, he realized that he has to push legislation into law (despite limited support from the other party) for the benefits of the middle and lower class. I’m always amazed at his (administration) ability to get over 15million people health care coverage after decades of political resistance.

I can’t think of many presidents having this laid-back, charismatic, receptiveness manner of Obama. Whenever I see him on TV (though I never had the privilege of meeting him in person), he always had a one-liner punch line (even though sometimes written for him), he always nails his delivery and manage to bring a great smile. I would like to sit across/with him (with Michelle), eating and sipping latte, curious about some of this challenges and why he has such comic timing.

Also, because of his inclusive nature, I’m interested in knowing how (what methods) he was able to pass legislation without minimum controversies.
From my research (I saw a segment of his street chow down with Anthony Bourdain in Vietnam), President Obama has such a great personality that I would love to hang out with him, eating street food and learning, hitting the town
