An Architect's Future by Cheyenne - March 2025 Scholarship Essay
Ever since 5th grade, I have had an unconditional love for two things: art and math. Not only do I cherish the process of solving mathematical puzzles, but I do my best to excel at it. The same can be said for my talents in art. Both subjects give me a purpose and a feeling of accomplishment. Now, as a senior in high school, I have made the significant decision of my college field of study. I will be pursuing a bachelor's degree in interior architecture and a minor in theater design.
During high school, I have had numerous opportunities to give back to my community. In a portion of these opportunities, I have used my academic and art skills to help the community grow. Whether it was for creating advertisements by hand for community events or bringing joy to others by displaying my personal artwork, I have enjoyed sharing my talents with my community. The feeling of giving back to a community that has made you into who you are is incredibly rewarding. Using my experiences to guide me, I have decided to go into interior architecture not only because it combines what I love, but it also is a great way to help the community. Many everyday parts of society are focused on the interiors of buildings: hospitals, homes, work spaces, and much more. These buildings often hold the happiest moments of our lives, all of the firsts for new families, and some of the most life-changing events. To me, it is incredibly important that these spaces that so many use are the best they could possibly be. This includes access to the building itself, the comfortability provided, and its convenience. I hope to use what I learn in college to further improve the lifestyles of many by focusing on our everyday surroundings. I also plan to achieve a minor in theater design. Even though Interior Architecture has many art elements involved, I am taking Theater Arts because of its creative expression as well. I look forward to crafting hands-on and continuing to use my artistic skills to bring joy to others.
I will be attending a four year, CIDA accredited university to ensure that my quality of education is the best that I could possibly pursue. I look forward to learning about topics I know that I will resonate deeply with. The many opportunities that this education will open up to me are very exciting. I plan on using my degree to get an internship, become a professional, possibly open my own firm one day, and most importantly, create a project that will change others lives. While my career is important, I also think it is important to volunteer. I hope to volunteer at a local theater while attending college. Once I achieve my baccalaureates degree, I will have the knowledge necessary to bring my visions of the future to life. I hope to use my received education to not only help others, but also to inspire others by proving to them that no matter your chosen field of study, you can make a positive difference.
Even though I am not positive of where my future will lead me, I am positive that every opportunity presented to me will not be wasted, including this scholarship. I will use all I have learned and will learn to improve myself and others lives. The only future I see is one where I not only make the best of it, but where everyone around me thrives in it.
