The best book ever by cheyenne - July 2013 Scholarship Essay
My favorite book that I read for school was The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. This was my favorite book because it was not like anything I had ever read before. I liked how it portrayed that people will destroy just to destroy. People know right from wrong, but they can have conflicts with themselves about what they should do. Zaphod Beeblebrox was one of those people. He had two heads that could never agree on anything. He had to figure out what head he should listen to.
Reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy opened me up to a new kind of writing and a new kind of humor. The dry, British humor was hard to get at first, but once I got more into the book, it became clearer. My favorite thing about the book was how much imagination Douglas Adams used to write it. Imagination can make writing or reading a book fun. Not many people like to read a book that they don’t enjoy. When I read a book I enjoy, I do not want to put it down until I have read every word of it. I also made a lot of personal connections with the book. I think it is important to make personal connections with a book because it helps you understand the book better. If I had to recommend a book for others to read, I would recommend The Hitchhiker’s Gide to the Galaxy.
