How Education Has Made Me Who I am by cheyenne - December 2014 Scholarship Essay
When I was little, my grandpa would have me sit on his lap and he would tell me stories. His favorite thing to teach me about was history. He loved telling me all the stories and battles of the past. He would tell me stories and then a few days later, he would ask me questions pertaining to the stories. I used to roll my eyes at all of this when I was a little kid. “He’s telling me the same story again” I would think over and over, and I was uninterested in it until I started getting older. Then I loved his stories. I couldn't wait to go to his house to have dinner with him and hear his stories. He is gone now. He recently passed away in August of 2014. I miss him and I miss his stories.
The point in telling that little snippet of my history was this. I really enjoy learning and knowing things. I love learning and knowing things because of my grandpa. I love history, mythology, psychology, English and most other classes. I actually love school in general. I enjoy learning new things. I enjoy writing papers and reading boo¬ks. Reading books is one of my favorite things to do. I read a few books a week. I like writing stories and papers. I enjoy almost all subjects except for math. I don’t do so well in math. I like writing stories because I can just write what I’m thinking and I don’t have to worry about what anyone else is thinking about me. I like reading because I can escape from wherever I am just by opening a book. My grandpa shaped my education, and in turn, he started my love for knowledge. He made me who I am.
