The Treasure That is Education by Cheyenne - July 2019 Scholarship Essay
Having a passion for education means believing and knowing how important and valuable it is. If someone came up to me and inquired as to my reasoning for going to college when it's such a drain on people's time and money I would tell them:
Education is more valuable than diamonds and riches. But if you’re so inclined and desire those things, education can grant you the keys to such splendor. Education gives you opportunities, opens doors, and unleashes your true potential. The blessing of education is not something that everyone has. That’s why you should expand your horizons by increasing your knowledge.
I would like to pose a question. How long could you survive in the wilderness without knowledge of the different techniques that would help keep you alive?
Not long enough to be rescued.
The modern world is just the same -- a jungle of information and a tumultuous river of differing opinions. In this cacophony, we are given training and education on how to best make use of this flood of resources before we have the reins to our own learning handed off to us completely. It is at this point that we face the ultimate choice to continue our learning and arm ourselves with knowledge or face the world without the aid of this additional precious resource. Taking the path of knowledge and opportunities via education is what will help us increase our chances of achieving our ultimate goals in this perilous world and is precisely what makes the dedication and the money that is invested all worth it in the end.
