My dream by Chemere - November 2023 Scholarship Essay

In the hallow halls of just justice to be the mantle of a defense attorney, driven by a singular purpose of being the hero my Grandpa never had. With each case, I will aim to right wrongs, mend injustices, and weave a legacy that honors the unfulfilled dreams of a man who ignited a fire in my heart. It has been propelling me to seek knowledge and justice since I was a kid.

The torch he has passed down to me has burned brighter than ever, treading the path of a legal advocate carry this forward with unwavering determination, while always thinking of the wise words my dad said when he gained custody of us.”Never ever stop because it takes time." As a defense attorney, I intend on not just defending the innocent but also being a companion for fairness and a just society.
My dream was to be the light in the darkness for those who didn't have one. I have known in my heart since I was a little girl what I wanted to be when I grew up. It was not a stereotypical child’s dream such as a doctor or an astronaut; instead, my vision is to be a voice for those who have no one to defend their rights, a light in the darkness.
Having a career in law has always been a big goal of mine. 3 years ago, the night I learned about my grandfather's incarceration was a big motivator for my devotion to law. Among other things, he shared his wish to see me as a lawyer or an attorney. His absence may make me sad but it has also sparked my interest.
I hope to inspire others who may have the same goals. I strive every day to be the hero my grandpa and generations before I never had. He has continued to inspire me; without his story, I don't think I would have this dream. I will be able to continue to be the voice for people who don't have one; the dark in the light. A defense attorney is what I am striving to be.
Also, I have demonstrated excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities. Achieving high grades has been a top priority for me, as I believe that a strong academic foundation is essential for success in the field of law. My commitment to academic excellence is complemented by my active involvement in various clubs and organizations where I have developed essential leadership and teamwork skills. These experiences have shaped my character and reinforced my belief that I am capable of making a meaningful impact in the legal profession. My skills, character, and work ethic will align perfectly with this Scholarship for a pre-law major.
