My Journey by Charles - January 2024 Scholarship Essay

I founded Merkai, a company aiming to empower individuals through passion and devotion. I created a company with a clothing line, turning the logo into a symbol of inspiration and motivation, reminding others that anything is possible if they put in the work, time, and effort into something they are passionate about. My transformative experience inspired me to establish Merkai with a vision to empower others and invite them to embody the spirit that propelled me to pursue and achieve my entrepreneurial aspirations.

I plan to pursue higher education at a university college to broaden my knowledge, skills, experiences, and connections to achieve this goal. I plan to study Business Administration to develop critical thinking abilities, improve business communication skills, gain expertise in data analytics, understand the legal and ethical aspects of business operations, and marketing, and acquire a values-driven approach to business. This educational background will enable me to excel in written communication, business proposals, plans, presentations, business planning and development, business regulation, and more.

I have had various career aspirations throughout my life, including becoming an athletic star, judge, defense attorney, and prosecutor, before finally setting my sights on the business world. After discovering my passion for business, I embarked on my journey to become a successful businessman. I participated in the JAG (Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates) program during high school, where I developed a keen interest in business and was assigned the role of treasurer. As part of the program, I raised funds for JAG. I devised an innovative idea to design and sell creative clothes with unique logos with the assistance of the members.

After graduating high school, I envisioned starting my own company in college. Drawing on the skills, knowledge, and experience gained from my role as a treasurer in JAG, I came up with the idea of expressing the meaning of Merkai through fashion and other means. As a descendant of past business owners, anything is possible if you put the work, time, and effort into something you are passionate about.

Awarding me this scholarship will significantly boost my entrepreneurial journey towards becoming a successful businessman. It will enable me to lay a strong foundation to achieve my Merkai mission: to empower others and never give up on their dreams and aspirations. I am determined to complete college successfully and become a perfect example for my company, proving that anything is possible if you put the work, time, and effort into something you are passionate about. I am excited about the opportunities that this scholarship will allow me to pursue in terms of networking, gaining more knowledge, and investing in my business.
