Do you believe that college is important? Why or why not? by Charisma - April 2020 Scholarship Essay
The importance of attending college is to get a degree that can be used for the field or career that a person is interested in pursuing. I believe that attending college is important, but only if you want to go and if it is a fit for you.
Some people may not go to college because college is just not for them. They want to go straight to work or the career that they want to pursue may not require them to go to college. Professions such as registered nurses do not need a college degree for their wanted careers. They may only need to obtain a certificate, but some colleges offer programs for registered nurses. Some people just want to go straight into the workforce when they graduate high school. That is fine because we need people like plumbers, mechanics, and other similar service professions to help us with the skills we don’t know how to do ourselves.
If you are a person like me who wants to pursue dentistry, which is also a field of medicine, you would have to pursue a degree. It is important to go to college if that is what you want to do in order to get in the field of your choice. Every student will need to determine if college is the route they want to take based on if their career of choice requires it or if they simply have a desire to go to college.
