Texas by Chardonnae - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
Knowing what you know now, what is one piece of advice you'd share with younger students?
As young Adults, we strive to do and be our best. We pick and choose our friends based on our interest and hobbies. For example, being an athlete, I tend to gravitate to other athletes, for getting the fact; I am an honor student who is taking advance placement classes. My advice to my younger friends would be, “Do Not Put Yourself in a Box, Be open to changes and celebrate Diversity as it comes.”
Almost from the time I began to interact with others, I could hear my parent’s voice resonate within my soul, “it is always good to collaborate and network with everyone, and smile doing it. You are a part of future doctors, lawyers, judges, pro players and future educators. Therefore, as you advance in life, you never know who may cross your path or whom you may need professionally. Which is why now, you want to leave them with a good impression of you and how you interacted with them.”
Not putting myself in a box, afforded me the opportunity to take a strong look into my future, make decisions which would enhance my life and career choice. As I review my career goals, I know, I want to be a part of the medical field. I would like to work with patients and with my hands. Which is why, I became a Licensed Nurse’s assistance. I picked this career choice, because my clients would come from all walks of like seeking help. Also, as I would give my parents, family and friends massages their eyes would rolled to the back of their heads in “Pure Pleasure.”
Though my classmates and I, may travel from different places in our studies and in our interest, it is both nurturing and inspiring to be able to communicate on diverse subjects, while sometimes speaking and upgrading my second language (Spanish). I love meeting new people and I especially enjoy we when can talk about any and everything going on around us. Therefore, having a diverse circle of friends, will give students a satisfaction not known to fellow classmates who do not branch out and who place themselves in a box, hence unwelcoming change.
