If I had unlimited time and money, I would use what I’ve learned in school as an elementary education major to create a positive impact in the field of education and teaching around the world in several ways. I would also use my love for entrepreneurship to assist me through these goals. Something I have already been wanting to do after I graduate and acquire more teaching experience is to start a tutoring company for students who need more support in their learning. This company would be affordable with opportunities for free tutoring so any student could benefit from it. This is an idea that I have found realistic for me even without unlimited time and money. When I think on a larger scale of unlimited resources, I have many more ideas.
First, I would establish an organization that focuses on providing high quality education to children in underprivileged communities. The goal of this organization would be to bridge the gap between schools with a lack of resources with those that are well funded. This would provide all children with quality education and support regardless of their socio-economic background. It would also provide training and resources to teachers to enhance their teaching skills, build on their professional development, and learn new techniques as well as providing them with the support they need to be successful in their classrooms.
Second, I would invest in and support initiatives that focus on providing children with access to basic necessities such as food, clean water, and healthcare. I believe that children having their basic needs met is crucial to their learning, success in school, and overall, wellbeing. I would work with work with organizations that specialize in providing these resources to children/communities in need and would fund the development of solutions that are sustainable so they can have a long-term impact.
I would also use my time and money to support research into new educational methodologies and practices. The theories and practices of teaching and learning are always changing and evolving as we learn more. I think that it is important to continue research on effective teaching and how students learn best so we can always provide the most effective, inclusive, and empowering education to our children.
Another thing I would do is focus on education in countries of need. Many developing countries lack access to quality education which could hinder their opportunities. I would work with local organizations and governments to establish schools and provide resources such as textbooks, computers, and the internet to ensure that students have access to the tools they need to succeed academically. I would also invest in teacher training programs for these communities that would provide them with the skills, knowledge, and support needed to provide quality education to their students. These programs would focus on the current research and theories of teaching and learning. I would also partner with local businesses to provide training programs to students that would help develop skills in demand for their local job markets. I would also contribute to initiatives to provide their children/families with basic necessities they need much as well like the previously mentioned.
I believe that the best way to create a positive impact in the world is through its future. That is why I am attending school to become a teacher and also why I would use unlimited time and money in these ways.
