This year, I learned that in college, your life can change almost immediately. One moment, I felt like I was on top of the world, and the next, it felt like the world was on top of me. This experience taught me the gift of resilience. I learned how to pick myself up when I fall and keep moving forward.

As a first-generation college student at Prairie View A&M University, studying Biology, I have faced many challenges. My college GPA of 2.76 reflects some of these struggles, but it also shows my determination to keep going. Being a 19-year-old woman, preparing for dental school, I know that the road ahead will not be easy. However, this year has shown me that I have the strength to overcome obstacles.

One of the most important lessons I learned is that resilience is key to success. When I faced academic and personal setbacks, I realized that giving up was not an option. Instead, I focused on finding solutions and pushing through difficult times. This mindset has helped me improve my grades and stay committed to my goal of becoming a dentist.

This lesson will impact me moving forward by keeping me grounded and focused. I now understand that setbacks are a part of life, but they do not define me. Instead, how I respond to these challenges shapes my future. As I continue my studies and prepare for dental school, I will carry this lesson with me. It will remind me to stay resilient, work hard, and never give up on my dreams.

In conclusion, the most important lesson I learned this year is the power of resilience. This lesson has made me stronger and more determined to achieve my goals. I am confident that this mindset will help me succeed in dental school and beyond. Thank you for considering my application for the Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest.
