Second Grade, First in My Heart by Celena - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

Throughout my long years of public school, my teachers have thought me many a things. I would hope so I suppose that's their jobs, but despite remembering all of your teachers' names, only some of them really stick with you. Those are the teachers that truly love their jobs and the students they teach wanting them to truly succeed in life.
One of the most memorable teachers I've had takes me back all the way to the second grade, yes the second grade. Considering that I'm almost eighteen and can barely remember what I ate yesterday, it's pretty extraordinary I can clearly see my second grade teacher standing on top of a desk and dancing all the time. Thinking back on it, I can concede that it was a little strange but very amusing. Being a shy child, I would quietly laugh but it taught me something interesting: to be myself.
Yes, that sounds incredibly cheesy even to me writing this, but it's true. She didn't care about what us kids thought about her, she was an amazingly bubbly ball of sunshine and fun and I've never felt more comfortable in a classroom. So when high school becomes so horribly bland, she's a fond memory I like to look back and smile on.
