What Success Means To Me by Cecilia - February 2021 Scholarship Essay
Success for me is not solely based on materialistic gains. It's more about having a lasting impact on the people around you and being able to leave a legacy. A legacy that reminds people of the importance of kindness and generosity. A legacy that reminds people of the use of empathy and integrity. Leaving a legacy is what my success story is. During college and after college, I hope to live up to these qualities and be able to leave a trace behind me for future generations.
During college, I hope to focus on gaining my masters in early education while continuing to give back and serve in my community. Whether that is spending summers volunteering at a music education program or serving my local church through the children's ministry. I hope to successfully leave a legacy after college that reminds people of my servant's heart. I don't want to be solely remembered only by academic achievement but rather by the effect I leave on other people. Not only will I strive to position myself at the top of my class but I will also strive to make authentic connections during my college experience. I hope through clubs and extracurriculars, I will create friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime. While pursuing my career in education, I will work towards the hope that my classroom and my teaching space will be filled with opportunity and creativity for young minds. Through my teaching I hope to be able to instill the core values of kindness, generosity, empathy, and integrity. In result, to make my students become excelled individuals in the real world. I hope long after my years in teaching, my students will remember me for my character and ways of teaching. Leaving a trail where others can follow in my footsteps fuels my passion for becoming an educator. I hope through college and graduate school I can be able to become the educator that I strive to become and leave a legacy behind. A legacy for people I meet along the way but also, most importantly, for my future students. This is what success is to me.
