Switching It Up by Caylin - October 2016 Scholarship Essay

Throughout my entire school career, I have grown up admiring each and every one of my teachers for their specific set of skills that differ so greatly. It amazes me how different individuals brains can operate so oppositely on so many educational topics. The tactics that they utilize, the notes, homework, and assessments that they construct, as well as the time they often put into providing extra assistance to their students is truly admirable, and I believe that education would be a great potential field of study for those interested.
When contemplating my future career choice, education was actually a very strong contender for me. I love kids, I already have teaching experience, as I have been a dance teacher for several years now, and I also love to learn, so I already possess many of the values that teachers contain.
I am very fond of science, particularly Anatomy and Physiology. The way the body utilizes the plethora of veins, muscles, joints, organs, and everything else that it contains to maintain homeostasis is immensely incredible to me. It is almost incomprehensible to completely understand how cells can just decide not to function properly, and adversely attack the body, causing a various illness or disease. Then, because of the insane advancements that have been made in medical technology, whatever illness or disease that has occurred can be fiercely and miraculously attacked, hopefully ending in its banishment.
If I was a teacher, I can only pray that I would be able to instill the same amount of excitement for learning that many of my teachers have instilled in me. If I was a teacher, I hope that my students would have the ambition to do what they love and follow their dreams, and I hope that I was even a small part of inspiring them to do so. I hope that I would make my students look forward to attending my class and even prompt them to look into a career and education for themselves.
