Education can come from all different types of things by Catherine - November 2020 Scholarship Essay

Education can include so many different things from normal school, sports, church, and the things you learn in everyday life. I'm so thankful for the amazing teachers and coaches I've had and for the mistakes that taught me important lessons.
Growing up I was a competitive gymnast and I genuinely believe that I learned some of the most important lessons through that sport. I trained twenty to twenty-five hours a week and I spent more time with my teammates and coaches than I did with my family. I had to learn time management and respect at a really young age which I think helped me a lot in school even though I was always busy. Also, I think the time that I did gymnastics is also why I learned so much from it. My training hours really went up towards the middle of middle school and freshman year and I think you make so many mistakes during that time of your life and because I was so close to my teammates and coaches during that time they were really able to help me grow up.
Another really important part of my education is my faith. I grew up going to church every Sunday and a religious education class once a week and so my faith has been a big part of my education. At church, you can learn literary skills from reading the Bible, life lessons, people skills, and so much more. My faith impacts a lot of the decisions I make and I can't imagine my life without the knowledge I've gained from Church.
