Most people have seen the pictures of students with funny or relatable quotes. Some are puns, some are references, and some are inspirational, but they all shine a light on who the student is. My senior quote is “Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing it again.” and it gives people a glimpse into who I am. I am quirky, sarcastic, and fun-loving.
The character I quoted, Captain Jack Sparrow, is quirky to say the least. His quirks are evident even through his dialogue. Many see me in a similar way. I do small things that can be classified as weird, but these are the things that commonly make my friends and I laugh. My oddities are the things that make me who I am, and I feel like my senior quote portrays that.
Sarcasm is another part of me that Captain Jack Sparrow and his words convey. Sarcasm is my go to response for stupid questions, even though it’s rude. The hint of sarcasm that can be found in his words drew me in when I first found them. I knew then exactly what my senior quote would be. The words are clearly letting people that Captain Sparrow had just done something either incredibly difficult, incredibly dangerous, or incredibly stupid, if not all three. At times, high school feels very much like that.
Most importantly though, I like to have fun. I chose my quote because, while the formerly mentioned reasons are important, I thought it would make people laugh. I enjoy goofing around with people and making them laugh. While everyone else that I know had meaningful, inspirational quotes, mine was a quirky, sarcastic joke about graduating high school. I felt it was only right that my senior quote reflect this very important aspect of my personality.
Senior yearbook quotes are something that can be funny or inspirational; it just takes the right person to get a good quote. I am one of those people. I want people to see my quirky, sarcastic, and fun-loving nature through the quote by Captain Jack Sparrow, “Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing it again.”
