Dinner With Adolf Hitler by Cassidy - February 2016 Scholarship Essay

If I could have dinner with any historical figure, who would I pick? I would have dinner with Adolf Hitler. Now you just read that name and am wondering what in the world I am thinking, why would I have dinner with Adolf Hitler. Why wouldn’t I have it with some of America’s great heroes like Martin Luther King Jr., President Roosevelt, Rosa Parks, or Abraham Lincoln. I want to ask Hitler what he was thinking, no not in a yelling I hate you, you’re terrible type manner, I want to ask why he did what he did, and how He saw it as okay?
Adolf Hitler didn’t just kill hundreds or thousands of people, he killed millions of Jews. I want to know his motive behind his madness. I want to know this so then I can maybe help stop ‘future Hitlers.’ I think that it would be interesting to have dinner with Adolf Hitler too because then I could see how he carried himself. I would be able to see how he reacted to my questions and I would also be able to see if there was any regret behind his covered up face.
Adolf Hitler did many terrible things, I along with probably all of you want to hurt him and make him feel the pain he gave to others. A question that has hitting my mind since the day I learned about why Adolf Hitler did what he did is, “How did you grow up, and why did that make you who you are today.” Those are a few reasons I would want to go out to dinner and have a long discussion with Adolf Hitler. One last thing, would he pay the bill, or would he expect me to pay?
