My Passion Project by Cassandra - February 2019 Scholarship Essay
My dream job? That's such a difficult question for me. Most kids would already have something to say to answer that question, but I don't. I would rather say that my job is to be committed to my passion project. In the oceans there are billions of pounds of trash already and every year an estimated 14 billion are added. Insane right? My passion project is to not only encourage recycling but to encourage the use of recycled materials in fashion. Currently I'm working on a dress made out of trash bags, old newspaper, and plastic milk cartons to show that fashion doesn't have to be with the most expensive materials.
Another part of my passion project is that I would love to take my fashion and dresses to the New York Runway. I know, you must be thinking that I'm crazy but I'll get there someday. I want to be able to influence all the big names and faces in fashion to take part in a fashion forward movement towards conserving our Earth. I believe that it is possible to move the fashion industry in such a way. With so many A-list celebrities ready to stand up for what they believe by wearing their statements. When I take a look at all of the celebrities who go to huge events like the Grammy’s or the CMAs and see all of the statement outfits, I know that I can get one of my outfits on the red carpet.
My dream and passion project will be my job. My job will be deciding what I need to do to get where I want to be. Planning out the steps to take as I would plan out my weekly budget. Step one, go to FCCLA State Competition for my Recycle and Redesign dress. Check. Next, FCCLA Nationals. After that I’ll go on to Iowa State and do an internship in England and maybe shadow someone in New York. This is what my job is, designing the steps toward my dream.
I don't want my job to be easily definable by a job title.
So to answer the question, my dream job is making my dream true.
