Magical Memories by Cassandra - February 2016 Scholarship Essay
Walt Disney has provided joy and laughter to millions of adults and children across the globe, even after his passing. Disney films allow people to escape their harsh realities, and dream for short periods of time. Walt Disney World in Florida, and Walt Disneyland in California, provide families the chance to make magical memories.
If I had the chance to have dinner with a historical figure I would chose Walt Disney. He has inspired so many people, myself included.Growing up watching these magical movies, and going to the parks has inspired me and has given me the hunger to bring the same joys I have experienced myself. As a child I found these movies inspiring in so many ways, they taught me many important life lessons. Mulan taught me to make myself into someone I am proud to be, and that girls can do anything. Lilo and Stitch taught me that family isn’t always defined by blood, but by love and acceptance. Dory has taught me to just keep swimming even when life gets you down. Although I am getting older Disney movies still find a way to teach me very important life lessons. Such as that we create our own fate, you need to step out of your comfort zone because that’s where life truly begins, and so much more. I always look forward to what Disney will be able to teach me next.
I believe that every family should be able to create magical memories and become closer as a family. I dream of bringing that same happiness to children and families across the world. To give them a chance to escape the responsibilities of the real world and make family memories. As well as to see a child's face light up with joy, smiling ear to ear when meeting their favorite character. Or to grant a child's Make a Wish by providing them with a memorable trip to Disney.
I would ask Mr. Disney what his favorite thing to see when watching families walk around his park. Whether it was all the happy faces, big laughs, or being able to bring families together. I’d also like to ask him what is the key factor to creating a great movie that leaves both children and adults inspired. That one element that makes that movie memorable and enjoyable, that the moment you think of it you remember your favorite scene and a smile appears ear to ear. After, I would ask him what film he created was his favorite and not only why, but what inspired the idea to create that film. My two last questions for him during our dinner together would be, If you were to walk into one of your parks today what would be the first thing you would do? and If you could create one more magical movie what would it be? It would be a dinner I would never want to end, although Disney is not truly gone for he hides away in Neverland where he never gets old. Watching as those he has left behind follow in his footsteps making millions all over the world happy and inspired, people with a dream just like mine.
