Educational Podcast by Carson - August 2018 Scholarship Essay

If I ever produced a popular educational podcast, it would educate future film makers, and provide them with the skills necessary to write great stories. I would go over the process of making films, and what storytelling techniques would be suitable for each genre. Throughout the podcast, I would analyze classic films and what made them so impactful. I would also talk about the process of creating films, and discuss storytelling strategies.

I would begin the series by addressing popular films and how the Directors managed to make their films so great by analyzing their stories, characters, and themes. I would also discuss poorly-reviewed films and the mistakes that were made. This would help future film makers to look at films in a new light, and help them to refer to these techniques when writing their own story.

After a few episodes of analyzing films, I would then begin to discuss the process of actually creating a film. This is crucial because future film makers will need to know this in order to start making their own low-budget films, which will then give them the experience they need to make professional films worthy of Hollywood.

While different films will execute their stories differently, I would suggest some basic storytelling techniques that can be implemented to create engaging films. This would be beneficial, because it will help future film makers to create lasting impressions and memorable films that are held highly among critics and fans.

If I were to run an educational podcast, I would make it about film to help future film makers. I would do film specifically because I have a passion for it, and would use my experience to help others make their films.
