The Business of Ministry by Carolyn - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

If you were a college professor, what class would you teach and why?

As an ardent believer in my faith, I have shared the tenets of my religion with audiences who follow the same or similar belief systems, with those who know little to nothing about God, and with some who have never even heard God’s name.

As an international business major, I have limitless opportunities to mobilize local and national companies into international successes while channeling my interests into nonprofit organizations, government settings, business domains, and industrial environments both globally and locally.

As a student of Chinese language and lifestyles, I am beguiled by the varied and unique customs and traditions of the people. I find myself fascinated by China’s industrial culture. And, I find it rewarding to utilize my language skills to communicate in the country’s mother tongue.

Therefore, as a college professor, I would be motivated to provide focused instruction regarding employment in a business setting in a foreign country, that is predominantly non-Christian and potentially hostile to Christians, while remaining an ambassador for Christ.

In order to make an impact as disciples of Jesus Christ, students need equipped with the skills and know-how to remain strong in their beliefs while witnessing to others in a culturally diverse, and possibly antagonistic, environment while simultaneously experiencing success in their chosen area of business.
