I believe that the purpose of education is to help advance society as a whole. Education is in place to make sure that we have a well educated population that is aware of social issues and is ready to vote on something for the better of the nation. Education is something that allows the person to follow their own interests and dreams, and helps one follow the life that they want to live. Without education we would not have the greats that we know today, we wouldn't have Einstein, nor Bach, not even Beethoven. We would be without understanding of what life is. We wouldn't know the basic calculations of physics that teach us how the world around us works.

Without education we would not be where we are as a whole. There would be no internet, television, radio, cars or any of the inventions we have today that we take for given. Without education there would be no texting, tweeting, or even updating ones Facebook status. Without education we wouldn't have the ability to video call our relatives halfway across the world, and share our moments with them as if we were actually there with them. Without education we would live in a society in which we would just work to merely survive, there would be no leisure time.

Without education we wouldn't be able to pull that smartphone out of our pockets and google something in order to prove ourselves right in an argument. Without education we would lack teachers, lawyers, doctors, policemen, firefighters, and many other leaders of tomorrow. Without education there would be no great moments in history, we wouldn't learn of the Romans and Greeks, we would not have a moon landing. Education is also a tool we use in order to never repeat the mistakes of human kind, we use education to make sure that our children are aware of such things as the holocaust and how horrible they were. We use education to make sure that these wrongs are never done again.

We would not be who we are today, if it were not for education. If education is anything in this world, than it is everything in this world. Education is what we as a society use in order to make sure that we progress, to make sure that our children have better lives than our own. That is why education is valued so greatly, because it is literally what advances us all, for the better.
