Uh hi coach by Camryn - September 2017 Scholarship Essay

"Camryn" my coach calls, "here we go again" I think, grade checks. Being a student athlete is a lot, yes even though the memes on twitter are funny and blown out of proportion a little, it is still a lot of balance to be in a sport and to be a student. Playing softball has made an impact on my life immensely,
When it comes to my grade, my coaches would sit with me and talk about my grade and if I bombed a test sometimes they would know before me. From there they would guide me to see that teachers are no evil, they are there to help. The hardest class I've taken in my high school career, one grading period I didn't do so hot, they would work out a deal with that teacher with me to see what to do so I could remain eligible for the season. The teacher ended up letting me retake everything I could to bring my grade up.
It wasn't just my coaches that made an impact on my grade it was also my teammates, if you fail a class at the 6 week you are unable to play, therefore you're letting your team down, because you still go to the games and you still cheer, but can only do that, not even in the dugout, just watching from the stands with parents. Also as an underclassman I would go to upper class men with questions on geometry, or chemistry, or anything really.
Being in this program for years and years has put it into perspective, team work really does make the dream work.
