For The People by Cameron - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
Entrepreneur sounds selfish to me. In the distant future not to far from now I want to become an author with a well known clothing brand attached to my name. I will be honest the two sound like middle school science fair partners who both come from totally opposite social groups. To make things even more awkward, I would like to write mostly post apocalyptic fictional stories for young adults. It may be hard to believe but that's where I see myself 10 years from today through the most doubtful way.
Within those 10 years there will be many sleepless nights. I want to go to a four year college to study Journalism or English, I'm not picky. Journalism will lead me into connections to many different people hearing many different stories that I hope will influence my writing. On the side I will be writing novels to be published with the help of the connections I make through journalism. I've already started on a novel and hope to have it published soon, just like I have already started a clothing brand. A brand takes time to grow and I'm not working alone. While I'm in my college classes, my colleagues will be selling and producing. My job among the brand is marketing so by learning journalism and gaining connections our brand will grow through my promotion. It will take a lot of work and many trips back and forth from home, but in the end it will be worth it, just not all for my sake.
I have a desire to write and make my own clothes because I want to help and entertain the people. I write for my enjoyment but also to entertain kids with stories and ideas they have not thought about. Helping kids to think outside of the norm will create more entrepreneurs and lead them away from street violence. My clothing brand on the same side of the hand will be for the people. I want to create a brand that is as big as brands such as Supreme but as cheap as Volcom. I want people to wear the same clothes as celebrities without having to struggle to pay for them. My writing and my clothing are for the people and that will continue to be the case for the next 10 years.
I will be considered an entrepreneur but to me I won't be doing it for myself it would be for the people. My writing is to inspire the children of today and my clothes are to benefit the poor. I may benefit from the profit but I will benefit more from my hard work paying off in the next 10 years.
