Dear Scholarship Committee,

I am immensely thrilled to submit my application for the Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest. My name is Cameron Ragan, a rising freshman at Lincoln University, with a deep-rooted passion and academic interest in Business Administration. As a young Black man stepping into the world for the first time as a college student, this scholarship represents much more than just financial assistance but an opportunity for personal growth, academic excellence, and a chance to make a lasting impact in the community.

Raised in a fairly diverse community, I've been exposed to a plethora of perspectives, cultures, and worldviews. My early experiences have greatly influenced my educational journey, propelling me to develop an interest in the socio-economic aspects of society. I've come to appreciate the power of business in both its ability to shape modern society and its potential to generate key solutions for social inequalities. I believe studying Business Administration, coupled with this scholarship's support can help me utilize these dynamics effectively for community benefit.

Academically, I am proud to say that I maintained a 3.1 GPA during my high school years, an accomplishment that exhibits my commitment to educational pursuits even amidst challenging circumstances. I'm fully aware that this consistent performance must be replicated and even surpassed at college level, and I am more than prepared to meet this requisite head-on.

At Lincoln University, I aim to delve deeper into the components of Business Administration—management, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship—cultivating a well-rounded advantage in the field. It is my goal that with a thorough education in these areas, I can contribute back to my community by fostering local businesses, creating job opportunities, and advocating for equal access to economical benefits for marginalized groups.

On top of the direct educational benefits, I strongly believe that this $200 scholarship will play a significant role in alleviating financial anxiety. As a first-generation college student with limited financial resources, each dollar awarded will bring me a step closer to focusing solely on my academic progression and less on economic constraints.

Engaging in the Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest is, therefore, not only about winning the funding assistance but also about demonstrating my perseverance in pursuing my educational ambitions.
