Lifelong Learning by Camdyn - September 2018 Scholarship Essay
In 25 years I’ll be 42. Wow! I can barely wrap my mind around being that age.
My goal is to become a marriage and family therapist. Earning my degree will give me a plethora of knowledge, but I will definitely need to create a plan for continuous learning opportunities.
I will readily adjust over the years to new tools and systems that will help me as a therapist. Technology will change and grow over the years and I plan to go through online tutorials, webinars and take classes if necessary. Family dynamics may also change through the decades and I will need to adjust to that. Reading online articles, books, talking with colleagues and more will help me assist the families and children I serve.
I’ve seen the phrase lifelong learner online. I think being willing to continue to learn as I age will not only help me in my career but also in my own life. Learning about and participating in new health food options and exercise programs will be good for me. Joining new clubs and groups will also keep my on my toes and in touch with others who have differing viewpoints than I.
The most important element to lifelong learning is scheduling. If I make goals to educate myself, I need to schedule it and make time for it. Creating time in my calendar is key for completing a learning goal.
Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship. I look forward to beginning my college journey and gaining the knowledge I need to begin my career!
