I Am Thankful by Callia - November 2020 Scholarship Essay

I have been asked this question many times, what aspect of your education are you most thankful for and I have never really had an answer until I seriously thought about it in depth. This question took me a long time to fully comprehend and understand its true meaning. After long thoughts, I was able to come up with an answer. I will forever be thankful for the education I have been blessed enough to receive but in reality, I am most thankful for the relationships and life skills my education has provided me with. Many people overlook the importance of education and find it to be a "waste of money" for our government but it is actually preparing our future for success.
When it comes to the relationships aspect of education, I don't think I would have the motivation to attend an educational institution without some of the relationships I have made. It's the fact that I know when I walk into school, someone is there for me and their smile will make my day. My education has provided me with lifelong friends that I will never be to express my gratitude for. But not only have I been given friends but also educators that still check in on me daily. I can walk into my school and know that at least one person will ask how my day is and that is something that I will never take for granted.
On the other hand, I am thankful for the skills that I have been taught from my education. I believe that without my education, I wouldn't be prepared to attend college this next fall or even be ready for the "real world". Most students overlook this part of our education and find it to be pointless and unreasonable but it is setting us up for success. Not only have these skills helped me perform well in school, but it has also given me amazing opportunities outside of school that I am thankful for.
To be fair, there are certain aspects of my education that I am not thankful or grateful for but my social relationships and skills are things I will never be able to express my appreciation for. Once I complete my college experience, I will truly miss these specific aspects of my educational journey. I am extremely blessed with the education I have been able to accomplish.
