What led me to my current major by CALEB - February 2024 Scholarship Essay

My current major at Cornell College is Communications and Broadcasting. My long-term goal is to land a job in the sports broadcasting field. I have played sports since I was 3 years old, starting with t-ball. I have also played soccer, baseball, basketball, and football. So, it's safe to say I have a passion for sports and love sports facts. I would say I got that from my dad and that is something that we have always connected on. I am excited about the opportunity I have at my current college to help in the broadcasting field to call games or matches for sports I am not currently involved in.
In my role as a game announcer or sports broadcaster, I will share my enthusiasm for the game and players. My goal would be to invite people who might not be into sports to tune in more; not only the most popular sports but sports that might not be as mainstream. I would help to provide media coverage and analysis of all sporting events at a local level and maybe one day, to a worldwide audience. I hope to get to the level where I would be able to do interviews with players, coaches, and possibly other sports experts to provide insight into each event I cover.
