Education: A Springboard Into A Hopeful Future by Calder - November 2015 Scholarship Essay

Education around the world varies exceedingly. Different curriculum is taught in different regions. One common theme of education, however, is that it inspires students to cause a change in the world, it informs students of the diverse nature of the world, and it prepares students for the future world.

To begin, education inspires students. Learning about topics that one is interested in arouses a desire in students to think in more innovative ways. This kind of inspiring will surely improve the world by combating the crippling effects of disease and poverty that currently plague society.

Additionally, education informs students of the diversity of the world. Through education students learn to become more culturally competent. Education also prevents biased prejudices concerning behavior that may seem odd to them. An educated individual learns to be more accepting of each person's differences. This increase in cultural competence brought about by education will improve foreign relations in the world today and promote the sharing of new technology amongst diverse cultures.

Lastly, education prepares students for the future. Throughout education, students learn about the current events and problems of today's society. This kind of education causes students to be more aware of the current nature of society. Students are thus enabled to know what needs to be fixed to improve the future: preparing them to generate helpful technologies and ideas.

Overall, education is vital to society. Several aspects of education benefit society. Specifically, education benefits society by inspiring, informing, and preparing students. These are just some of my favorite aspects of education.
