Impact by Caitlyn - October 2019 Scholarship Essay
Many different people impact you in very many different ways. Personally, I have been very lucky and fortunate enough to meet some of the nicest, most selfless people. One person that sticks out to me the most is my athletic coach from ESPN Wide World of Sports, Kelsey. She has always been encouraging of my academics, athletics, and just overall success.
First off, Kelsey has always pushed me to be the best at whatever I do. We met because of sports but that doesn't mean she hasn't encouraged me the most in my academics as well. Whenever I was down and out about not wanting to go to college, or if I wanted to put athletics in front of academics, she would be the first one to motivate me and show me what is more important. She does not only tel me, but she leads by example. She has coached hundreds of professional athletes and really doesn't need any more schooling but this semester, she is going back to get a masters degree anyways. It is very easy to tell someone to do something but leading by example and doing it yourself first is so much better. She could easily just encourage me to work hard to be a better athlete but she knows that school is more important.
To continue, Kelsey has made sure that I know I will go to college. When we were talking about college, I told her that I wasn't sure if I was going to go or not and she told me that I'm going, it's just a matter of figuring out where. She is an example of the work ethic I want to have someday. She has also provided me with anything I would ever need to succeed. No matter what it may be, she is always there.
To conclude, I ave many people in my life that make an impact on me daily, but Kelsey is definitely the best role model and best encouragement I have when it comes to academics. She truly wants the best for me and wants me to succeed and that is all I could ever ask for.
