The Man I Want to Be by Bryce - November 2016 Scholarship Essay
College still seems like a foreign concept to me. I have no idea what it will be like. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about the experiences of college. The late nights with friends, the atmosphere at the big games. Everything just seems to be so amazing. You are finally on your own and can live your life the way you want.
One of the biggest things I will be thankful for after my college experience is finding out who I truly am. The independence in college truly gives you a chance to let the person on the inside come out. You do not have to worry about what others think. The only person you have to worry about pleasing is yourself and what you know you should be.
I can finally see myself for who I am. I have no one controlling or monitoring what I am doing. This change will expose me for who I truly am. Over my few years here on Earth I have learned what type of man I want to be and how I can achieve that. I have always strived to hold onto my own morals and beliefs. And that is easier to do when you have supportive people around you at all times. But what will happen when they are all gone? Will I be able to hold true to these beliefs of mine? Am I going to be a man of good habits and integrity like I hope to be? Or will I slip away from my values? During this transition into adulthood your life turns to a blank page and you are the author. The real question is, who will I be on the other side of this page?
