Attitude and Education by Brooklynn - September 2017 Scholarship Essay
What classes do you love taking at school? Most students love elective classes. Many wonder how elective classes affect their education. Freshman year of high school I took drill team that counted as an elective. It affected my education in a positive way. It affected my education positively because I learned about attitude and being involved. Many of my electives have affected my education but this is the one that has affected my education the most. Education is not only about english and math, education is about learning new things.
Drill team was an elective not everyone could take, it was a competitive dance team. I was one of the luckiest people to be able to have drill team as an elective. That period at school was one where I learned things I could never learn in any other class, I didn’t just dance. I had to work with a huge group of girls and cooperate with all of them. Communication was key in that elective. There were times in the beginning before taking this class when I didn’t know how to problem solve. By the time I left this class I learned communication skills and cooperating skills.
This elective required me to be involved in school. I had to talk to all my teachers about grades. I stayed after school, participated in assemblies, and went to football games. I learned what it was like to be involved in school. I had many requirements to be in that elective. I had to pay attention in every other class I took to be in drill team, it required me to have all the education I could get. I was very involved in the education I was getting.
Education is not only about english and math, it is about learning new things. My favorite elective class was drill team because it affected my education the most. There is no other elective class I have taken that affected my education as much as drill team did. I was surprised it affected my education because it was about dance and not so much as what you would learn in school, I was surprised finding out it was the reason I got so much education. Electives are my favorite because you learn many skills in elective classes.
