Teachers that Helped Change My Life by Brittany - November 2015 Scholarship Essay
Throughout my education I have been most thankful for the constant challenge my teachers have given me. I was blessed to get to go to two different high schools and at each I had amazing teachers that have always made each assignment challenging. It has taught me to work hard and think outside of the box. My teachers, administration, and counselors have always been hard on me about my education and have always wanted to push the boundaries of my education.
The first high school I went to was Ardmore High School in Ardmore, Oklahoma. I didn’t transfer to Dickson High School until my junior year of high school. At Ardmore High School I was a varsity softball catcher and a state champion discus and shotput thrower for track and field. This put me in a category for my teachers to push me harder, because not only I was an athlete but they saw potential for me to do great things on and off the field. I was always put into advanced placement classes and was expected to do more. At first I hated that all this hard work was expected of me. I had a conversation with one of the head football coaches, one of my favorite teachers for biology, he explained why he pushed me harder than other students. I finally started to realize that I should be thankful for this because my teachers are helping me get prepared for not only college but life after my education.
I was thankful to move to a high school where I had teachers that have known me from the community and pushed me also to do better than what I thought I could do. I was very blessed with two high schools where every person that was directly involved with the school pushed me to do better and greater things in and out of school. I am very thankful to have teachers, administration, and counselors that never gave up on me when I wanted to give up on myself.
