If the roles were reversed, I would teach a class that would teach kids things they will need for their everyday lives. In this class, they would learn things they will need to know for their adult lives. I wish I would have had a class like this, so I will create one for others.
In this class, we will discuss things like how to balance a checkbook, how to change a flat tire, how to interact correctly with customers and how to budget your money. I never had a class that taught me these things, I had to learn them on my own, so I will create a class that will help kids learn these necessary activities.
My mom was the one who taught me to balance a checkbook. It is pretty simple, but not everyone knows how to do it. I wish I would have learned how to balance one before I got a checking account, but it is something that everyone needs to know how to do.
I do not actually know how to change a flat tire, but I know people who do, so I could have them come in and show us how to do it. Changing a flat tire is important because we will all have to change one at some point in our lives. If we know how to change one ourselves, we will not have to call someone to change one for us.
Communicating correctly with customers is very important because we need good communication skills for any job we may have in the future. We have to be kind and polite to customers so that they keep coming back to the place we work. If customers are not treated well somewhere, obviously they are not going to come back.
I actually took a three-week course about budgeting, and it was very helpful to me. It also talked about how to be smart about loans. We will talk about the difference between needs and wants, how to save and spend money wisely and how to keep track of the money we are spending and seeing where all our money is going.
This class will be a very important class for students to take. It will help them to be a successful adult and it will help them to be prepared for adult life. I hope this class will be one that students will really enjoy and will remember for the rest of their lives.
