Dear Second Grader by Brittanie - March 2018 Scholarship Essay

When I was in second grade my favorite part about school was lunch and recess. It was my favorite because I wasn't in class where there were rules. It was free time, where I could do or be whatever I wanted it to be. I could play and talk to my friends. I could let my mind be free and not have to worry about learning. I didn't understand the importance of learning in second grade, I only understood fun, but please let me explain it to you now why learning is important and can result with fun.

Learning is important because it creates knowledge. To think about your future right now is merely just a dream, but, remember, dreams are not impossible. It takes effort and knowledge to accomplish those dreams, and with that you can do anything. Some dreams may require years of school after high school and others may not; but success to the high road takes the knowledge within. Learning comes in all shapes and styles that happen almost everyday. My mother use to tell me, "you always learn something new everyday." my mother was not wrong, and she hardly is.

Lessons will be taught even without a teacher, it is all on you to learn from them. There are times when these are the lessons that are the most important. Not only should you take in these life lessons but also search for more. Go to school, learn as much as you can because in the end knowledge is truth and power. Knowledge will allow you to do whatever you want; it will opens doors to grand adventures. It will be your recess. Knowledge is your guiding light in life, so go and follow it!
