If I were a College Professor by Bridget - August 2017 Scholarship Essay
College Professors have a huge impact on the future of students they teach. Weather you know exactly what you want to become after college or still looking for your niche in the world. A college professor can help you understand subjects, and open your outlook on things you would normally look at differently. They have the knowledge and understanding of topics that they can express to their students. If I were a college professor I would teach Human Development. It’s a course that teaches students the development of the human brain from conception all up to adulthood.
Through human development we see how family influences can shape who we are as adults. As a professor, I would feel the need to influence my students to change their circumstances if they want to go beyond their current situations. Teaching Human development would give me that chance to show my students how simple interactions and small tweaks can help shape who they want to become.
Being a human development professor will let me see how each individual student has overcame the way they were brought up, weather it was good or bad. It will let me show them how the influences and people we look up to can help mold them into something they can strive for.
