Grateful For Education by Bridget - November 2016 Scholarship Essay
Going to college has been my dream since kindergarten. My parers tell a story of finding me crying in my room one day when I was five. When they asked what was wrong with me I responded that I was worried that I wouldn't get into college. They laughed and assured me I had plenty of time to worry about that!
Well, here I am! Being able to go to college next year is just as important to me as it was to my five year old self. And I am stressing just as much. Tears have been shed. Not because I am scared or sad, but because I realize after all of my parents sacrifice for me and my sisters that going to college will mean so much to us all.
My mom didn't go to college because she was raising me and my sisters. My dad quit college early to get a job to take care of us. Our start as a family was not the most conventional but they worked hard and now I will get to go to college next year. I know I will be extremely grateful for the entire experience. But probably what I am looking forward to most is making them proud.
