Why I Would Teach History by Bridget - October 2016 Scholarship Essay

To me, history is the most fascinating subject, so if roles were reversed I would teach history. There are so many reasons why history is the most fascinating subject, which means there are countless reasons as to why I would teach history.
Most people think history is the most boring subject on the planet, but it is quite the opposite to me. History is happening every day. Once one second passes it is officially in the past. History is everywhere and, whether you know it or not, you are a part of history. History is happening every day, you never know what will happen one second from now, let alone one year or even one hour from now. The world is constantly changing, which means history is constantly changing.
So since history is always changing, textbooks are constantly changing, your school might not get them right away but textbooks are always being written and modified for future classes. In one hundred years from now, do you want people to look back on 2016 and say, "Wow, what happened back then was so cool!" or do you want them to say, "Oh my goodness! What happened in 2016 was awful!" That is a question you should always ask yourself because one day what happened today might be in a history textbook and people will say one of those things.
That is why I would teach history, so I can teach people that what happens today will drastically change the outcome of tomorrow because a lot of people today do not realize how much can change in a single day or even in a five minute conversation.
