My School Atmosphere by Brianne - September 2023 Scholarship Essay

There wouldn't be much I would like to change at my school, I think that overall there is a very positive atmosphere in the classrooms and pretty much anywhere else. If there was something that I could change about my school though it would be starting a group prayer time. a time when we could get together and ask each other questions and be able to pray for one another without being worried about other people judging our struggles or needs. I don't think that people judging would be a big issue at my school, but knowing that there is a community that you can rely on and reach out is uplifting. I think that if there is a more positive atmosphere at school then that affects your life outside of school and also affects everyone around you.
Last year there was an attempt to start something similar but it only lasted about and then people got busy and forgot about it. We are trying again this year but I'm hoping it will stick and people will make it a priority. Something that I hope to come out of this is stronger relationships, stronger faith, and a bigger sense of community. The last thing I want is to have a classmate silently struggling with something and have nothing to talk about.
For something like this to happen we need leaders. Since I'm a senior this year me and my classmate have decided to take on that role. If people only show up for the first couple weeks I would like us to continue to encourage them. Even if set times do not work out for students, which is understandable because life is busy, I would like to see an atmosphere where we have an overall strong prayer life, where we are not afraid to ask for help, and where we can encourage one another.
