Inside Education by Brianna - December 2014 Scholarship Essay
Everyone wants to go to college to “better” themselves. But what does that really mean? Many people are left going to college because their parents want them to. Other’s think that by going to college, they’ll figure out what they truly want to do. But what’s beyond a degree? Education goes beyond just bettering yourself. Education can shape the people we are today.
I can honestly state that education has shaped me into the person I am today. How? Well, even in high school I challenged myself by taking academic courses, and overloading myself with two school sports and at one time, two jobs as well. Because I challenged myself with education, I learned some important qualities that I have: dedication, commitment, and determination. Through education, I definitely display these qualities the best.
The academic courses I took in high school made me realize that I wanted to further my education by pursuing a Nursing degree with the intention of later obtaining my CRNA. Currently being in college, I learned furthermore the love I have for education. Each class makes me realize that I want to keep learning, and keep shaping myself to be the best that I can be.
Realizing that I ultimately want to make the most out of my education, I decided to pick up a minor with my Nursing degree, sociology. This minor does not do very much in my degree, however because the love I have for learning and the degree of interest that I partake in sociology, I decided to do so. My determination, commitment, and dedication has never peaked so high; being in college makes me realize that I am truly inspired simply by education, and what all you can make of yourself with it.
Education is the single, most effective way to shape yourself into the person that you ultimately want to be. I am so thankful for the love of education that I have, as well as the qualities that I excel with in it. There is no way I would rather pursue my dream career than educating myself and actually deeply enjoying it. Education has truly shaped me into the dedicated, committed and determined student that I am today.
