What Education Means to Me by Brian - July 2019 Scholarship Essay
“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”, Benjamin Franklin. This quote symbolizes what many people including me view education which, and is a way of succeeding and expanding my horizon. Education gives all the power to figure out my interests, passions and dislikes by exposing me to different spectrum and realms of the world from mine and others’ perceptions. These different points of views challenge the way people think, ignite and drive to continue to learn and strive for the highest achievement possible.
Education opens the doors to many students by showing what it means to be challenge and willing to overcome any obstacle. Once a student, teacher or anyone discovers this drive within themselves, they will unlock a passion for learning and education. This passion can range from wanting to always be on top of every assignment or going above and beyond to gather as much information as possible on a certain topic and never settling for anything less than excellence. The average student makes his or her way through school but enjoying his or her time and the material that is being taught and gains knowledge.
Regardless of what type of student, having a passion towards education can help anyone get through an educational career with less burden and struggles. Therefore, if someone has trouble with school, it helps to have someone that can help them set a goal they would like to achieve or have a drive towards something that can unlock this passion. Education in my eye is a way to set myself up for the future; the more education and knowledge I have, the more I will understand about the world and the people in it.
Education can teach people how to behave, solve and contemplate issues, and make the best decision for whatever situations or obstacles they encounter. Having the passion and willingness to stay educated and wanting to reach the highest achievement possible for my standards can help benefit me in the real world as well, because you will have a certain standard that you have set for myself and a work ethic that can support it. Education is more than a goal. It’s a value showing people how equal there are, but differentiating how hard people must work to reach their goals by living up the standard that anything is possible if students put their mind to it.
