When most people think about college, they probably think about: it costs too much, it's all about having fun, or it's all about studying. Contrary to those beliefs, I believe that college is more than that. I believe going to college is important because it gets you ready for the real world, it's a gateway to getting a good job and a good life, and it is the best time to make friends.
There is no better way to prepare for the real world than going to college and making independent choices. For most people, this is the first time where they are required to make their own choices without the influence of their parents. At college, they will learn to control themselves financially, they will learn to balance their time with studying and having fun, and they will learn how to live on their own. Some people might find this idea horrifying, but, there comes a time where everyone has to learn how to be independent. I believe doing that at college is important.
Not only is college important for teaching people how to manage themselves, but it is also important for getting a great job and following one's passion. Everyone has an image of what they want to do when they grow up, and college is the gateway to teaching one how to accomplish their goals. Without college, there's no other way to accomplish those goals; therefore, college is imperative for making people's futures a success.
While college is very important for finding a self-control and a career to pursue, there is one final thing that makes college worthwhile, and that is acquiring friendships. I believe that making friends is the most important aspect of college, because there is no better way to have fun then spend time with those met on campus. Studying for classes is important in its own aspect, but having friends and fun is also what makes college enjoyable. Making friends is one of the greatest things anyone can accomplish in life, and since going to college is a fantastic way to make friends, it makes it even more important.
With learning how to get a grip on the real world, finding the path for the future, and making lifelong friends along the way, I can't express enough how important going to college is. The possibilities are endless, and there's a whole new world for anyone who is willing to take advantage of it. I hope everyone can recognize the importance of going to college, and together make the world a better place.
