Study Methods by Brenda - May 2016 Scholarship Essay

Study Methods
There are many different ways to study for an exam. The more you study the more of a chance you have on getting a perfect score on your exam. Sometimes it’s difficult because you don’t have motivation to do it. The three methods I use are a studying schedule, flashcards, and keep a well organized notebook. These three methods has helped me all throughout high school and hopefully will help me during college this fall.
Keeping a study schedule is a good thing to do when you have an exam coming up. A study schedule is when you set a certain time and day that you are going to study. It doesn’t have to be the same time everyday. Taking at least an hour out of your day for every day until the exam is here, will help you retain the information you are reviewing. Keeping a schedule will also help you not forget about the exam. It is a good idea to have an agenda where you write in your study schedule and other assignments. So you get use to having to look in your agenda and then you won’t forget about studying.
Another technique to consider is flashcards. This is good for when you have terms you have to remember. Note cards are easy to carry around with you so when you have free time for a little bit you can get them out and review the information. Nowadays you don’t even have to buy note cards because you can make them online. But I prefer just going to the store and get note cards.
The finally study method to have is keeping a well organized notebook with all your notes. Then you will know where everything is that you need to study. Also you can highlight or do whatever you need to, to help you know what information you need to review. I love keeping an organized notebook. That’s because it didn’t take me ten minutes to look up one answer to a question like other people.
These are the methods that I have used and still do to this day. Everybody has a different way of studying that helps them. The methods that I use may not work for someone else. Researchers have found out these three methods and a couple of other ways have helped a lot of students that go to well known colleges. The amount of work you put into studying will pay off. You just have to stay focus. These a lot of other techniques to use when studying but these are just the ones that I like to use.
