My Major Choice and Why I Chose It. by Braylynn - April 2025 Scholarship Essay
I plan to Major in Elementary Education in College. Throughout my 12 years of being a student I found something out ,there are two types of teachers the teachers who inspire you to greatness and the teachers who crush you to defeat. The teachers who instill wisdom and truth in your mind or the teacher who fills your mind with half truths and foolish thoughts. The teacher who guides you through your struggles with a gentle hand or the teacher who humiliates you when you make a error. In seventh grade I was blessed to know a teacher like the one I described first she inspired me to greatness, she instilled wisdom and truth into are minds whenever she saw an opportunity, she guided us through are errors with a firm but gentle hand. She made learning fun and a new Adventure. I have dyslexia and have always struggled with my lower case b's and d's. My seventh grade teacher new this and was very gracious in overlooking my miss spelled words. One day while doing my science homework I discovered something, A lowercase b and a uppercase B both faced the same direction and they looked the same. It's just that the uppercase B just had one more bump and that's how you tell apart which one is b and which ones d. The next day I rushed into class to tell my teacher of my amazing discovery. She looked at me ,smiled, gave me a big hug, and said "I Always knew you would find a way. I'm so proud of you!" So I guess that's why I want to be a teacher to inspire and uplift the future generation. To show them by God's grace even when we face a struggle there is always a way. And if they trust God and put their mind to it that way will surely come. I Just hope that I can live up to the standard my seventh grade Teacher set for me. Joyce Meyer said "Teachers can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges." By Gods grace I hope I can be the teacher she speaks of.
