Be a part of your learning by Brandon - March 2018 Scholarship Essay
School is not the most appealing or fun part of life, but it is probably the most important part of your life. Many people don’t go through school and they don’t get very far unless they push themselves to learn on their own. That is why you, as young and intelligent as you are at 7-8 years old, must start to become a part of your learning. This doesn’t mean just going to school and cheating on test to get good grades or copying other people’s work, this means that you study for every test and quiz. It’s easy to cheat, but you alway get caught, you always get in trouble, and you alway learn nothing about what the test was about. But if you study for that test and you try your best, not only have you learned the information that is on the test, you have made your parents, teachers, and your whole family proud of you. You should be especially proud of yourself (I know I would!).
Studying is not the only thing you can do to be a part of your education. Club are a great way to become an active learner. In middle school and high school I was a part STEM Club and Odyssey of the Mind, both of these clubs require a lot of work and dedication. For STEM Club a spend hours working on R/C (Remote Control) race cars, making sure the work at the highest performance possible. In Odyssey of the Mind I spent 2 months practicing a role for a play and learning how to come up with stories fast and straight from my head! All of these things require hard work and it makes you a better student at the end of the day. You become a leader, you make good decisions, and you never give up.
With all this said just remember one thing, YOU can do it. I you care about something and you work for it you can achieve it, you can make it a reality. You can get all the nice houses, go to Disney all the time, have the best cars, play the most game and, most importantly, have the most fun. So get out there and be a part of your education, make your dreams a reality!
