Becoming an Athletic Trainer by Braden - April 2024 Scholarship Essay
What motivates you to pursue your academic goals and how do you stay focused? I think that is a great question to ask a variety of people even if they aren’t going to be answering it for a scholarship. I think what motivates me is following my dreams to help other people in the sport they love, help with recovery in becoming an athletic trainer.
I have gone through thinking about future jobs from chef, paramedic/EMT, and now athletic trainer, but being a chef or a paramedic/EMT is really hard, especially while doing baseball at the same time. I want to become an athletic trainer because even if my baseball career ends in college, I want to be able to help others recover and perform at their best in whatever sport they are playing, but also to hopefully stay around the game of baseball and maybe even work for a professional sports team in the future.
I stay focused on my goal in a variety of ways. I am currently taking a Health Careers 1 class at our high school so I can learn about a whole bunch of medical terms and medical topics like sutures, IVs, and other important topics. I also do some college searching and look for schools that have the job that I want. The other way is by doing research on how much it's going to cost me to go to the college and even pay for the classes to make sure that I am able to go to the college and try to cut down on the cost as much as I can. The last way is looking at local colleges so I can stay at home and cut down on costs. Cost of college and classes is a big thing for me.
