My Day with the Big Guys by Billie - February 2016 Scholarship Essay

For years I have always wanted to know certain things, you could say I was a curious character, but I never wanted to know more than when I learned about the World War II in sixth grade. To understand life we must understand those who came before us and personally, I would like to hear from one person that could answer many of life's questions. Every person that has ever lived has had their own view on how to make the world a better place. Franklin Roosevelt was the one that dreamed of all the big things life could offer, despite the things happening across the country.
Franklin Roosevelt may not be the most informative, considering that time has changed through the years. And, he may not tell me all the secrets of the world; but we can relate to each other in many ways. Mr. Roosevelt will be able to tell me more than anything or anyone else could. As a realist myself Roosevelt would help me understand the basis of reasoning for what and why world war two was necessary.
Another reason though, that he would make a great companion was because he was a dreamer, one who loved to imagine the possibilities but still understood that while he wanted certain things to make a difference, this life would not always be how he planned it to be. Being able to sit with him, I would be able to ask questions of how he dealt with the things in his life that didn't necessarily go in his favor. Mr. Roosevelt and I, would be able to learn a lot from each other.
