Prosperity for my family in the future by Bernardo - June 2013 Scholarship Essay

Today is not like it was a few years ago where one could prosper without getting a higher education. Most locations that offer jobs now require some sort of college education and attending the right university is a start that will only appease the process. If one wants the life that is embedded in us as the “American dream” one has to get ahead with education to be able to compete in the real world. If one doesn’t compete now when young and have the energy, one may never compete when older and have less time and drive. If one has the drive now to get ahead one will have “their feet wet in the water” when older and one has a family. Family is something most people want and also want what is going to best for them. In other words what attending college means to me is a prosperous future that I hope my wife and children will enjoy. In most cases, attending college almost guarantees a good future will usually include a family that is happy and prosperous. Attending college will help one be better prepared for the world and help have a well-paying job that will put food on the table. All in all, what attending college means to me is a better life in the future filled with prosperity, joy, and love.
